Friends of St. Briavels Church

This initiative will be launched at the forthcoming St. Briavels Community Festival

SATURDAY 14TH JULY 2012
at 5.00pm

All welcome!

Among the many things which make living in this area special is the existence, at the centre of the village, of the Church.
It is an outstanding Grade I listed building full of treasures and architectural marvels. In some way it is the embodiment of the history of St Briavels over nine centuries and probably more.

Talking to people in the area, it is very striking how many have commented, with regard to the building, that they would like to support it in some way and to be kept informed about it. In response to this view, we plan during the course of the Community Festival on Saturday 14th July to establish a “Friends of St Briavels Church” organisation, in a form which has been very successful at other places in the Forest. We are sure that this can be done in a way which both churchgoers and non-churchgoers will be entirely comfortable with.

We would like the launch of our 'Friends of St. Briavels' initiative to be seen as an opportunity for us all – whether or not practising Christians, and if Christians whether or not attached to this Church as a worshipping community – to celebrate the existence of the Church building, and its architectural riches and history.

The full details and application form will be featured on this webpage for future reference after the launch on Saturday 15th July 2012.
